When Daddy's Away... The Girls Play!

While Bryan was enjoying his annual man trip to Steamboat, Emme and I enjoyed a super fun girls weekend! After spending Friday evening apart, Emme and I were inseparable the rest of the weekend. Friday night she stayed at her Mema and Papa Browne's while I attended Kristin's Bon Voyage surprise party! Christine and I had so much fun planning the ultimate surprise at Copia on Washington- we went all out on the cheese tray, ice cream cupcakes from ColdStone and a very creative 'K' picture poster. Kristin was 100% shocked and we celebrated her new adventure until the week hours of the morning. As much as I'm going to miss one of the best BFFs a girl could ever have, I am so happy for this exciting new chapter in her life (and I can't wait to visit Miami!!!)
Saturday was a laid back day. Emme had a second birthday party to attend, so we spent a few hours in Afton at her Little Gym friend, Sara's, birthday party which was Dora themed and Emme loved it! It's been fun getting to know the Little Gym group- great parents and adorable kiddos.
On Sunday Emme and I spent a little time working on her birthday party favor bags before heading up to Aunt Ann and Uncle Bob's Holiday Party! The food and company was amazing, but the biggest 'thrill' of the day was when I tried to put Emmerson in her pack and play for a nap. Before I reveal what happened, you have to understand that she is the easiest toddler to put to bed, whether it's nap time or bedtime... she just lays right down and goes to sleep. However; she must have felt like she would be missing out on some of the partying, so she decided to climb right out of her pack and play... twice! So that was that- no nap and a freaked out mom. Just the thought of moving her to a 'big girl bed' makes me tired.
Monday came around fairly quickly as Emme and I anticipated Bryan's return from Colorado! Emme had a very important gymnastics class on Monday. It was her first medal ceremony! She got to do all of the tricks she has learned in the last 20 weeks and then at the end of the class, all of the adorable little toddlers got their very own medal! Emme wasn't quite sure what to do with it, but she had a very proud Momma!
The best part of the entire weekend was at 3am Tuesday morning when Bryan finally got home, safe and sound, despite the horrendous snow storm he had to travel through. We stayed up the rest of the night so he could tell me all about his trip. He had a blast, but Emme and I managed to have a pretty good time here in MO, too:)
