Mommy's Getaway

I splurged and took some much needed time away from the business of my day to day life... My splurge was spending 5 days with my bestie in the beautiful, sunny and warm Lincoln, California! (Sacramento suburb) The first day there we did plenty of shopping, talking, and stayed low key, except for our night out downtown at a bar called The Shady Lady. Stephanie and I got a picture holding hands... this is our tradition- every time we go somewhere new together, we take a pic holding hands :)
On Saturday we headed out to wine country with Jenna and Chris. Shenendoah Valley was only an hour drive from Steph's neighborhood and the entire drive was gorgeous. After plenty of windy roads, we eventually found ourselves in God's country... with wineries lined up one after another.

I barrel tasted for the first time.... it was an interesting experience. This wine day made we realize just how much I don't know about wine and got me really excited about learning more! Thanks to Stephanie, I became slightly more cultured about the wonderful world of wine.

Jenna, Steph and I outside of Wilderrotter Winery... they had the best wine out of the 5 places we went to. Jenna became a member and I am highly considering becoming one as well. I brought a bottle of their Sauvignion Blanc home and Bryan and I really enjoyed it!

This winery was gorgeous... it was huge and the scenery was beautiful in every direction. It reminded me a lot of a winery in Sainte Genevieve County (Chaumette).
Stephanie and I took the pups, Nala and DASH, to Starbucks every morning for their morning walk and so we could get our caffiene fix/breakfast.

After a long, relaxing day at the pool, Stephanie invited a few other friends over to join us for our 4th of July BBQ! It was a good time just hanging out on her patio and enjoy a few drinks. The food turned out well, considering none of us were experienced with a grill... my attempt at vegetarian poppers was a bust due to the jalapenos being the hottest thing I have ever eaten. Normally the heat cooks out, so I dont know what went wrong! Oh well, we suffered through it!

Stephanie discovered parasitic worms on her tomato plants, which turned into quite the ordeal when trying to figure out how to get them off the plant... tongs worked great! Submerging them in a bucket of water finished them off fairly cleanly as well! Below are our beautifully gawdy, yet appropriately decorated, coozy cups- we were so proud of how they turned out!
It was a super relaxing trip and even though I missed Bryan and Emme terribly, it was worth it.
