So much to blog about

Unfortunately I am having trouble uploading pictures these last few days, so while I work on this problem I thought some updates of this weeks' happenings would be nice. I will get some pictures of Emmerson up soon... she has grown up SO much this week!
She is just shy of 5 months old and becoming more and more fun everyday. She is starting to sit up on her own and is interacting with her surroundings by reaching, chewing, and talking. Emmerson is very curious and loves to look around at things... at everything! Everyday she gets stronger and stronger at sitting up, stepping, bouncing around in her jumper and moving around in her walker.
On Tuesday this past week, I enjoyed my day off and spent every second with my little baby that I could. Bryan came home work a little early with a couple movies and we somehow managed to watch Taken while Emme took a nap. It was all perfect timing and it was so nice to actually watch a movie together at home. It was the first time we have done this since she was born, believe it or not! Later that night Bryan had to go help Donnie with some things so Emme and I watched a chick flick... Confessions of a Shopaholic. SO cute!
Wednesday was a wonderful day because I only had to work 8 hours and then I met up with Kristin for dinner and a bottle of wine. We wanted to go to a restaurant we had never been to before (thanks for the suggestions, Lauren), but we ended up going to the place that never lets up down... Drunken Fish. We can't get enough of their sashimi rolls and delicioso wine. We dined outside and had a blast people watching. There are some interesting characters in the Central West End! After dinner we met my friend from nursing school, Megan and all went to see Annie at the Muny! It was such a cute show and it was fun to see all the little girls there with their moms. In just a few years Emmerson will be tagging along with Mom, Grandma and I to our Wednesday night summer tradition.
Emmerson had a "first" this week... we tried swimming for the first time and LOVED it. I blew up her tiny green pool and we put her rubber duckies in the pool with her so she had some friends to play with. It didn't take her long to splish splash around and get me all wet! Louie thought it was a giant water bowl and had to try it out, too!
Today Bryan and I went to Renee Wills' benefit and had such a good time. There was a great turn out and Bryan donated his BBQ skills in the silent auction. I'm anxious to see you bid on it because I'm sure I will end up being a part of this as well! When we left, Stacy was winning it, so we shall see! It was nice to see our friends today. Since Emmerson has graced us with her precious self, we just don't see everyone as much as we used to, so days like today are special. Renee had her transplant 6 days ago and is already out of the hospital and doing AMAZING! I'm sure all of Kim's hard work in planning her benefit will pay off. It was such a happy day!
We ended up having to leave the benefit so Bryan could get up to Herculaneum for his dad's airport concert... A Led Zepplin tribute band and Foghat were playing and Bryan and his buddies were working at the beer wagon. This was all so the guys that use the airport could earn money to buy the Festus airport from the city (who is trying to sell it). After it cooled off a little, Emme and I went up to visit for about an hour. It was a pretty big event they had going on and actually pretty impressive! Bryan was having a good time, but Emmerson and I had to head home because it was 8:30 and her bedtime.
I just put her to sleep and thought I would catch up on my blogging and worry about getting my pictures on here later. Tonight is Emme's first night sleeping without her swaddle blanket, so we will see how she does! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she sleeps as well without it as she does with it!

Kim, Emme is SOOO precious! Sorry I never got back to you about the sling... I think it would work for bigger babies, depending on the weight. Call me to discuss! Staying at my mom's this summer without internet access or cell reception, no joke! Call me at 231-229-4824 to catch up! I have been thinking about you!
