The 34 Week Sentence

It's official- I have been sentenced to bedrest. No longer are the glorious days of "light duty" which I thought were tough enough, but now I am allowed to get up from a chair 1-2 times each hour and am allowed to climb stairs a couple times a day. Talk about a reality check! As a very active person, it has been quite the adjustment for me. Don't get me wrong, I understand the importance of bedrest- it is my single most important duty to make sure these boys get here only after they are truly ready to be here. However, this couldn't have happened at a more stressful time (but is there ever really a good time?). Bryan and I had just started a large remodel project about two weeks ago, most of which Bryan was doing himself. My part was to help put everything back to order after the projects were complete. Let's just say plans had to change. Thanks to my fabulous Mom, we have managed to get caught up and the house is looking great! I am hoping to have "after" pics to post by this weekend! It continues to amaze me at just how different it is carrying twins versus a singleton... I have to admit my first pregnancy was as close to perfect as possible with minimal discomforts and zero complications. This pregnancy was heading in the same direction, but all those normal "late" pregnancy discomforts kicked in really really early and now I have to worry about how ripe my cervix is. Emmerson was 9 days late and I never had any cervical concerns:) It's wonderful to experience different things in life, and there is nothing as amazing as carrying a child or children. But I do have to admit it is, along with parenthood, THE most important job I have ever had. I pray that bedrest is the answer to slowing things down until the boys are ready to grace this world with their presence! As excited as I am to meet them, I hope they hold out until their 37th week!
