This past week has been full of ailments and sickness in my family. I found out that the blurry and cloudy vision in my right eye is due to tiny little blood vessels growing over my cornea... this translates to me "not being allowed to wear contacts" FOR A VERY LONG TIME! They think my eye has been deprived of oxygen because I wear my contacts so much and the only hope for my vision to return would be for these little blood vessels to go away. This might or might not happen and may leave scar tissue which means I still won't be able to see. And the only hope for these vessels to regress would be to wear my beautiful "coke-bottle" glasses and keep my contacts in their case. I hate my glasses...Bryan likes to tease me when I wear them (because they make my eyes look huge) by saying I can see into the future. It was a funny joke the first 10 times he made it. As you can probably tell, I'm a little bummed about my "new look". I thought I got rid of these glasses a long time ago. Hopefully I will be back in contacts someday, but for now I will have to get used to being 4-eyes!
My mother also had an eventful week... she in only 57 and found out she needs a hip replacement... bad joints just run in her family! Her Dad had his hips done and her Mom had a knee done, too. I think it will be good for her because she has been limping around in discomfort for a good year now. This summer looks like when the big surgery will happen and I know she will be back to running before she knows it.
As if my eye and my mom's hip weren't enough action for the week, Emmerson came down with her first cold on Friday. She sneezed all day and woke up Saturday with some serious congestion. Today she started coughing the cutest most pitiful cough I have ever heard. Even though she sounds terrible, she acts like nothing is wrong. She is a little sleepier and extra cuddly, but her spirits are normal and she smiles and jabbers like she feels like a million dollars. Next time I have a cold, I am going to remember what a trooper this tiny little baby is and try my absolute hardest to not be such a "baby" myself.
I pray that the 3 of us are back to a healthy state soon! My grandfather used to say, "If you don't have your health, you don't have anything." After working in the medical profession, I couldn't agree more!
