My Thrilling Thursday

Nothing seemed to go right today... Emme woke up for a 2am feeding, which is so out of character, and was awake for the day by 5! Bryan and I decided it would be fun to grab breakfast at the Kozy Kitchen before he went off to work, and I needed some fuel to get going for the day!
Then I was off to Florissant to pic up the rent check from our renters... BUT on the way there I got ahold of the lovely State Board of Nursing. Apparently, they failed to mail by lisense renewal to the correct address and I had until 5pm to get to Jefferson City to renew in person and fax the lisense notice to my hospital or I would be suspended. Of course I was unshowered and completely unprepared to drive a 6 hour round trip.
AHHHH... this lead to a long day in the car with Emme in tow, but she did phenomenal. She slept most of the time and only got crabby pants a little here and there on the way home because she was tired of being in the carseat. The rain didn't make the drive much fun, but we managed to get home just in time for me to shower and get ready to go to the Saint Genevieve High School Honor's Banquet.
It was a little stressful being on a time schedule with the drive, but it ended up working out. I was asked my the high school principle to return and be the guest speaker at the annual academic awards ceremony. I was really nervous going into it, but once I got there and saw the familiar faces of the faculty that taught me and the administrators I know really well, it was tons of fun. My speech went ok... I managed to make all 450 people laugh a few times! I was glad when it was over though, public speaking is not my thing which motivated me to do well since I was completely stepping out of my comfort zone. I got my message out to the students and my duty was done. It was a great experience and a great honor.
We ended up getting home by 8:30 so I could get baby girl to bed, BUT she wasn't tired. Apparently her day of sleeping in the car kept the little bug up until 10pm! This is way late for her. Bryan was worried she was getting her days and nights confused (we value the sleep she has been so nice to let us get), but when she slept all night the worry went away :)
