Everyone who knows me knows that I am a huge advocate for working out and getting that daily dose of physical exercise that research has shown to be so important. There are about a million excuses for not working out... coming from a young mom with a full time job who is in graduate school, TRUST ME.... it's possible to fit it in. Exercising is important to me because it keeps me fit and healthy not only for myself, but my family. I have tons of energy to play with Emmerson and keep moving when things get stressful and hectic. I am working on vamping up the diversity of my work outs since I feel running tends to take over the majority of my exercise because I LOVE IT so much. Below are my favorite at home videos and I am sure at least one of them would work for everyone. At home videos are great because you can squeeze them in early before work or when things get too busy and you don't have time to drive to a gym. I have even done a few work outs while Emmerson was playing in the same room... it's fun to squat and tickle or lunge and chase... the life of a multi-tasking mother is very exciting isn't it?
P90X is currently my favorite at home video because it focuses on strength while incorporating flexibility and stamina training all in one. The best part about it is that there are over 10 different videos so the boredom factor is non-existent. The ab video is 16 minutes and the yoga video is an hour and a half.. the rest fit somewhere in between which means that there is a video to fit into your busy lifestyle! It is a little pricey, but totally worth it and even if you don't follow the "90 day plan" there are tons of benefits from these workouts!
I have been doing Windsor Pilates for 8 years and LOVE the videos... There are many different videos out there, but they all focus on the core and flexibility. Some videos incorporate bands and rings, others are 20 minutes and some are 60 minutes. They are all semi-relaxing, but grueling at the same time. I like the "lean" results I get from doing pilates.
This is the best video for people with no time... 20 minutes of a mix of cardio, strength and abs with very quick and very sweaty results! And it's only $9 at Target! The above 3 videos are my all time favs, but this Brazil Butt Lift video just arrived at my home today and I am planning on doing the 60 day program the day after my half marathon on Sunday. I am soooo very excited about this new video- it's fairly new and you may have seen the infomercials. A coworker of mine began the program in the last couple of weeks and she said her bum hurt so bad she had trouble sitting down on the toilet.... anything that makes someone that sore is totally worth trying!
JUST REMEMBER: Active People are Happy People (I blame it on the endorphins)....
