The Longest Day of the Year

Happy summer everyone! I must apologize for my blogging absence. I have to admit that I have been too busy enjoying everything summer has to offer instead of getting it all typed out to share with you, but I will do my best to be a more consistent 'sharer of my life' for the rest of the warm sunny days to come! My recent summer indulgence started last weekend with a wonderful Friday evening jog around Forest Park with EJ and quickly turned into a fun Saturday morning with Emme (more about that in another posting). Saturday afternoon Bryan, EJ and I met up with some friends at the Sainte Genevieve wineries to enjoy an afternoon of celebrating Bryan's cousin Sarah's birthday with delicious wine and refreshing brewskies. Even though it was scorching, we had a wonderful time. And I have to admit that I prefer Crown's apple cider beer over their wine on a hot summer day. It is so refreshing and in my opinion, ten times better than Woodchuck or Hornsby's. After an afternoon of sipping cold refreshments, we enjoyed dinner at Coppermine's Saloon before heading home to hang out in the living room and try getting through The Blindside (great movie). EJ and I crashed early and Bryan headed out with some friends for a few more hours. Sunday was a very relaxing day with Emme and Bryan and we were able to get a lot of quality time in with our families... a perfect Sunday! EJ and I at Crown Valley Winery

Father's Day weekend was all about Bryan and he deserved every second of it. He is such a wonderful father to Emme- I could not have ever dreamt up a more perfect person to help raise my daughter.
Friday night Bryan and I did something we haven't done in a long time.... we went on a date, just the two of us! We went to dinner at Tanglefoot which had decent food, as close as it is to our house, I have never eaten there. Then we went to see Killers with Ashton Kutcher and Kathryn Heigl. It was an action packed, yet funny chic-flick that we both really enjoyed. We even made it home in time to spend a few minutes with Emme before it was her bedtime. Saturday was Bryan's 'father's day' because Sunday was devoted to his Dad and my Dad.... so we did whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. It started with him sleeping in while Emme and I enjoyed our normal Saturday morning together. Then we played outside and got the entire covered porch scrubbed super clean. It looked so nice that we had a few guests over to enjoy some grilling and a few drinks later that evening. Emme had so much fun playing in the yard with her 'outside toys' that she crashed nice and early.
Emme woke me up Sunday morning before Bryan was ready to get up, so her and I enjoyed a terribly hot 4 miler and made yummy breakfast pizza when we got back. Bryan woke up to the smell of crispy bacon and then enjoyed a few hours of playing in the living room with Emme before we ventured off to hang out with his Dad for a few hours. Later in the day after a short nap, the 3 of us headed to Lake Forest to enjoy some BBQ with my family. It was a lot of fun and Emme got to do her first sparkler (with help of course). It was a great Father's Day!
