Memorial weekend started a little early for us... we headed down to Lake of the Ozarks last Wednesday afternoon for 5 full days of relaxing fun! It was so nice to be able to spend so much time with Bryan and Emme, even though Bryan ended up spending one day entering quotes on my Mini and one day working in the yard. Those were the days that Emme and I hit the outlet mall. Emme made out like a bandit at Gymboree with almost every piece of their adorable watermelon line... her Grandma even bought her the sunglasses to match. I finally splurged and bought myself a new Coach bag. I don't get new purses as often as I used to "B.E." (before Emme)!!! They are such a wonderful treat now. The outdoor outlet mall is nice because you get great prices, a good workout walking from store to store, and even a little bit of a tan (or burn) from being outside!
Besides shopping, we spent some time on the dock. Emme did well around the lake. My mom and dad even came by with the boat to take Emme and I for a nice long ride. Emme wasn't a fan of her life jacket so she didn't have as much fun as I did. She is just like her Daddy and gets hot very easily. She was sweating almost the whole time so she preferred to hang out on the lower level... which makes me so sea sick, but she loved it! By Friday she could say 'boat' and was constantly searching the water and pointing at every boat that passed by-she loves life on the water!
On Saturday night, Emme stayed home with her Grandma Browne and Papa while Bryan and I enjoyed an "adult only" boat parade with people from my parent's yacht club. About 8 boats lit themselves up with lights and decorations for Memorial Day and took a 9pm putt around the lake. Then we enjoyed some live music and great company.
I got a nice long run in every day and we enjoyed amazing food... especially all of the BBQ and grilled food. There is nothing like kicking off summer with a cook out on the deck almost every evening! Above I tried getting a pic of Emme in the driver's seat of the "Hummer". We got a pic of her there last year and it's amazing how much smaller she was one year ago. She looked a lot happier in last year's pic, too:)
The first thing we did was pick up groceries and it was very late...so Bryan tried to entertain Emme with a ride on the Barney mobile. It sort of worked... You can see how thrilled she is!
One night after dinner Emme just crawled into this basket. She is such a climber these days. If she can hike her leg up onto something, she can just about climb up onto it. She can get on the couches and chairs easily! I am already thinking about how to transition her from the crib to a toddler bed... such a nerve-wrecking moment in mommyhood.
