Date Night and Girls' Night

On Thursday evening my wonderful husband asked me to go on a date with him on Friday... of course I said "yes" and I was soooo excited, especially after my aunt and uncle so graciously agreed to watch Emmerson. The anticipation made for a long day at work on Friday... once I found out that Bryan had a surprise in store instead of our original plans I was even more eager to get started with all the fun!
So the date actually started at my aunt and uncle's house in Kirkwood where Bryan dropped off Emme and was waiting for me to get off work. After a quick change into my zebra striped frock and heels, we were off to start the "surprise" date and soon enough found ourselves at McCormick and Schmick's Seafood Restaurant at West County Mall... YUMMO! We got there early and enjoyed some Happy Hour specials before we ordered our main courses. I highly recommend this place for HH; their White Peach Sangria was AMAZING.

After dinner we got in the car and I had no idea what Bryan had in store. He handed me two tickets to the Cardinals game and I was so confused. My first thought was I can't wear a dress and heels to a baseball game, what was he thinking. Then the best part happened; he must have read my mind because he said "don't worry, I packed you some clothes"! WHAT? Talk about thoughtful... he even brought 3 pairs of flip-flops because he wasn't sure which ones I would want to wear.
After a quick change in the car and a pretty uneventful ride on the Metrolink, we were downtown and got to the stadium just as the game started. We didn't care that we missed the first pitch, we were just so excited to be out together, alone, doing what we love to do. The Card's kicked some Padre butt, so we headed out before the game wrapped up thinking we could miss the mad rush to the Metro, but no such luck. Thank God Bryan was paying attention to which train we were supposed to get on because I just about had us going to Illinois... I can't say I am too much of an experienced public transit gal, oh well! We had a blast together and by the time we picked up Emme and got home we were exhausted; Emme must have been worn out, too because we all managed to sleep in until almost 8:00 in the morning!
Once we finally got moving the 3 of us headed up to St. Louis to Emme's cousin, Austin's, 4th birthday party! It was nice spending some time with family and Emme had a good time showing off her mad crawling skills. When we got home, Emmerson and I divulged ourselves into a lovely 2 hour nap and Bryan had headed out to the races for the evening. Us girls had a good time playing and reading books and making funny noises. Emmerson helped me put laundry away (if you can count messing up all my neatly folded piles of clothes as helping)!
She reached another milestone tonight while we were hacking away at the never-ending basket of laundry. In the matter of seconds, she reached over, grabbed the laundry basket and effortlessly pulled herself into a standing position like she had done it a million times before. I just starred at her like "you have got to be kidding me". The girl is so sweet and I know she is excited to be moving around, BUT SLOW DOWN!!!!
