Alamont Weekend

I must start by apologizing for slacking on the blog writing... life has been very busy and has unfortunately kept me far away from the computer and my camera. Last weekend was go, go, go and I was fortunate enough to be able to stay home from work today and have a chance to breath and even relax for a few milliseconds. Don't think I'm complaining, I love being busy and require a certain level of stress in my life to function properly. My happiness rides on two things... the happiness of others and the level of productivity in my own life. Strange.
So this past Saturday started with the final race in the Frostbite series... it was a 15k, which is 9.3 miles. The race went ok, but I have not had any spare time to train for my races and my times keep slowing. I have tons of motivation, but not enough hours in the day... I'm hoping to get back in the training mode for the half coming up in April. Besides finding time, I need to start running for myself again and not as a social event. I have made running so much fun that I am losing my competitiveness... can't have that!!!
After the race I met up with Bryan, RJ and Emmerson and we went to St. Luke's Hospital to meet Aila Lane Wolk... Clint and Kenzie's new pride and joy. She is absolutely precious and makes me baby hungry:)
Emmerson and I then met my Mom, Dad and Grandma for lunch at Red Robin (you can make any of there specialty burgers with a gardenburger.... AMAZING!) while Bryan and RJ drove out to O'Fallon to pick up the jogging stroller he bought off of Craig's list. Very pumped about that one!
Later in the afternoon we dropped Emme off at her Grandma and Grandpa Hilbert's house so I could accompany my husband to a town called Altamont, Illinois. There is nothing there, it is as small as Bloomsdale, but they had a bar and at this bar was a concert. Stoney LaRue plays a bluesy, country rock and is straight out of Texas... Bryan and his brother follow him and Bryan really wants me to get into this "Red Dirt" music, so I went along. It was a good time, but I can't say that I plan on going back to Altamont anytime soon.
The random group of Sainte Genevieve girls at the Stoney concert.

Bryan and I had an amazing time... but I have to admit I was very ready to get home Sunday to my darling little girl! I ended up having to catch up on some studying Sunday afternoon and then found out very last minute that the Superbowl party was at our house. I literally had a little over an hour to shower, clean and get food together.... it ended up working out and everyone had a good time. It helped that everyone brought something... and I made up a 7 layer dip that was so yummy! There were about 12 people over. I didn't really get to hang out because I had to do the normal Sunday stuff like make Emmerson's food for the week and do laundry. So the weekend ended well, but I hit the sack hard because I had to get to work early Monday for a 6:30 a.m. baby shower in the ICU I used to work in! Life is fun and full of adventures!

A 6:30 a.m. baby shower??? I think this has to be unique to the nursing profession- ha!

Sounds like you guys are staying busy. Can't wait to see Emmerson. Mark and I are going to try to make it for Bryan's birthday party- it will all depend on whether he can get that weekend off. Hopefully I will see you soon!
