As of Monday, Steve is officially home safe and sound in sunny California. I cannot even explain what a relief it is having him safe on US soil.... it's like a million pounds of worry lifted from the back of your mind and a heavy heart turned happy and light. We had a wonderful conversation on Monday and he sounds so happy to be home.... probably because he was with his girlfriend who he hasn't seen since March! Bryan talked to him yesterday and said he sounded just as happy... I LOVE hearing that!
He should be here in Missouri later this month and is planning on staying until January 19th. He really wants Emmerson to come early so he can be here for it, so I told him I'd try my best... It has to be hard on him missing out on all of these big events in our family. My wedding, our grandfather's funeral.... and maybe his first neice. So I have been praying things work out for him to be here for the big event.
I am so excited to see Steve and spend the holidays with him. He has been fortunate throughout his service in the Marine Corps to have been home all 4 Christmases! It is such a blessing to have the family together around the holidays, especially since we aren't all together very often.
Having Steve home safe is the best Christmas present I could have ever wished for and I can't wait to see him.
He may be my baby brother, but he is also my hero!
