WEEK 33

This week Emmerson should weigh a little over 4 pounds, like the size and weight of a pineapple. I have a feeling she is much bigger than babycenter.com projects because she was almost 4 lbs at our ultrasound 3 weeks ago! She has officially passed the 17-inch mark, as well. She is supposedly losing that wrinkled, alien look and her skeleton is hardening. So in other words, she is getting cuter and cuter everyday and forming those big fat cheeks her mommy can't wait to pinch! The bones in her skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for her to fit through the birth canal. These bones, unlike the rest of the bones in the body, don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as Emmerson's brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.
That's the baby update... the mom update is not so nice. I have literally become scared of the whole labor process and am trying really hard to stop freaking out about it. I have known that I will be going through labor eventually, but now that the clock is ticking I think reality has hit me. All of those horror stories from nursing school keep flooding my mind and I get all worried. I know it sounds silly and suprising, but apparently this is "normal" and other mothers have gone through a similiar phase during their 3rd trimesters. I am just hoping it is a "phase" and I collect myself before the big event. Bryan and I have childbirth class on Saturday so I am sure that will make me feel better. I guess it is true what they say... nurses make terrible patients!
The countdown continues: 7 Weeks to go!
