As of yesterday Emmerson is officially considered full term! This means that if she arrives now, her lungs should be fully mature and ready to adjust to life outside the womb... even though the due date is still three weeks away. Babies at 37 weeks weigh an average of 6 1/3 pounds and measure a little over 19 inches, head to heel. Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long.... since she was already sprouting hair at her 30 week ultrasound, I'm thinking she will have something to stick a bow in!
This has been a really tough week on me and Bryan can vouch for that. I am almost miserable, but not completely because this is such an exciting time. I have trouble sleeping and I move so slowly... it drives me crazy because I am naturally a fast paced person. My ankles have turned into "cankles" and my belly is HUGE. I'm convinced I win the award for the largest preggo belly EVER!
After the OB appointment on Tuesday I do feel much better about the end being in the near future. I am not dilated yet, but am 75% effaced. So that is a really good start to the labor process. I never thought I would be ready and looking forward to labor, but a girl can only be fat for so long and she is willing to go through ANYTHING to try and feel normal again. Besides, I simply can't wait to hold our little angel!
