After a relaxing weekend of some R&R and plenty of eating, we headed off to another OB appointment on Monday. The non-stress test went well again and showed that I had 4 contractions! At that point I was hoping the Dr. would tell me I was more dilated, but I wasn't.... still at 1 cm. The ultrasound, again, was the interesting part of our visit. We went to a different sonographer who was so confident in her measurements that she told us to call her and tell her if she was off by more than 5 ounces. Well she measured Emme at 9 pounds 9 ounces and got a wopping 9cm measurement of her foot, which is HUGE for a baby. The joke has been that she is going to come out walking! Bryan's Grandpa Pete asked if we were sure we were sure there weren't two babies in there and Bryan responded with, "If there was, Emme ate the other one!".... Some people are joking that we are going to have a toddler. It is funny, but I have to admit that having a huge baby is not always so funny for me, especially when I think about the fact that she has to "somehow" come out of MY body! But I'm hanging in there.
I just knew that our little princess was going to decide to make her grand entrance during a snow storm or icy weather, some would say that is her mother in her (always making things difficult, or interesting, how I prefer to put it). We had a good discussion with our Doctor on Monday who told us she wanted us to schedule and induction this week if Emme decided not to come on her own. I was relieved to hear she was open to this option since we decided a c-section was not what we wanted. We really didn't want to induce, either, because I did not want to use Pitocin unless absolutely necessary... well, it looks like I will be getting a healthy dose of it now! After spending some nice snowed in time playing dominoes with the in laws and doing some serious nesting around the house yesterday, we are scheduled to go in for an induction tonight! At least we don't have to travel in an active snow storm... just the left over bad roads. Looks like Emme surprised me and was nice enough to wait for the storm to stop!
It is so much fun anticipating everything that having a baby entails... from seeing her for the first time to holding her and thinking of all of the things you dream for them as they grow up! All of the work that I know my body will be going through tonight and tomorrow is worth it because it will bring us the best present ever... our little bundle of pink joy! So the next time I am online to baby blog, it will officially be about a real life baby... I know you all can't wait, neither can I! Wish us luck!
